From Small Details to Big Picture

VIRTUAL REALITY DEVELOPMENT

As a game designer, I have experience working with a variety of constraints. The most recent position I've had was to create Virtual Reality Sports games for the Mark Cuban Center. I was tasked to create a short experience to show to incoming recruits of Indiana University and to the press. Players can experience what it's like to be a quarterback through IUVR Football.

 

The game needed to play quickly in order to get people through the demo in a timely manner, so the Hoosier Hunt game mode (timed for two minutes) allows us to give players the quick QB experience of passing to cardboard player cutouts. We doubled their throwing power in-game to make it more ergonomic and enjoyable, and players can catch on "Fire" when they make three passes in a row to earn more points in this mode.

Batteries Included is a Virtual Reality action game where players manipulate the environment and solve puzzles to help hordes of toys ransack the castle!​

I was Project Manager/Designer on a team of 15 developing this Virtual Reality title for the HTC Vive. My main challenge was making sure everyone was on the same page and actively communicating between the programmers and artists and designers to make sure everything was operating smoothly. Design-wise, I ensured we had a set Minimum Viable Product and saw the team through several pivots, designing and testing new rules.
